Industrial Mechanic Journeyman - Crawfordsville, IN Careers

Under the direction of a Maintenance Supervisor, this position independently performs journey-level mechanical duties in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, machinery and equipment in a plant that produces paper, wafers, and does metal stamping and bonding Incumbents assigned to this class independently perform skilled maintenance and repair, including mechanical, air, hydraulic, air conditioning, electronic including both high and low voltage electrical systems on all types of equipment.

Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.

• Troubleshooting and disassembling machinery and equipment when there is a problem.

• Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components

• Perform tests and run initial batches to make sure that the machine is running smoothly

• Detect minor problems by performing basic diagnostic tests

• Test malfunctioning machinery to determine whether major repairs are needed

• Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications

• Performing routine preventative maintenance.

• Clean and lubricate equipment or machinery

• Reading, interpreting, and following instructions and technical manuals.

• Maintaining a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery.

• Cleaning, repairing and installing equipment and parts as needed.

• Operating a variety of hand and power tools.

• Maintaining a clean and organized work area.

• Complying with health and safety regulations.
