The Chrysler 47RE transmission is a four-speed automatatic transmission that is an update of the classic A727 design with an overdrive and steel gearls in place of aluminum. The 47RE is an entirely electronically controlled transmission contrary to the similar 47RH which uses a hydrualic and mechanical governor pressure control. The 47RE transmission has a 450 lb-ft. torque rating and was later replaced by the stronger 48RE with a torque rating up to 570 lb-ft.
