The Chrysler 48RE transmission is a four-speed automatatic transmission that was first introduced behind the 5.9L Cummins Turbodiesel found in Ram trucks in 2003. Upon its inception the 48RE was considered a strong improvement over the 47RE with a torque rating up to 570 lb-ft. Raybestos Powertrain offers premium friction materials like the GPZ friction clutch plate to address common 48RE issues like overheating and forward clutch failure.
