The TH400 is a 3-speed longitudinal automatic transmission that was originally developed by General Motors in 1964 . The TH400 was initially used in a large variety of GM makes including Buick and Cadillac models and later in other manufacturer's vehicles like Jaguar, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, and military Jeeps. The TH400 was the first Simpson-geared 3-speed with 1st and 2nd gear overrun clutches to eliminate the band release and clutch application having to happen at the same time. Due to its great strength and durability the TH400 is still very popular today in racing applications and is often upgraded to handle well over its original torque rating of 450 lb-ft. The Raybestos Powertrain TH400 transmission parts listing includes many upgraded and performance-minded friction materials to help take your next TH400 rebuild to another level.
