The Ford C4 transmission is a 3-speed longitudinal automatic transmission that replaced the 2-speed Ford-O-Matic in 1964. The C4, also called, the cruise-o-matic, is most notably known as the first Mustang automatic transmission. The C4 was much lighter than its 2-speed predecessor with aluminum components and a Simpson planetary gearset used to lessen the weight. Raybestos Powertrain provides the premium friction materials you need to build a reliable C4 transmission to get to the next car show or down the drag strip.
